Waves Video Sound Suite – Audio Post-Production Software Bundle for Video Editors (Download) Overview
Designed specifically for video editors who must manipulate audio throughout their endeavors, the Waves Video Sound Suite is a downloadable bundle with many processes for shaping sound clips in editing sessions. Included are the DeEsser, the IR-L Convolution Reverb, L1-Ultramaximizer, the Q10 Equalizer, the Renaissance Compressor, and the W43 Noise Reduction Plug-in.
The DeEsser is useful for mitigating harsh sibilance in dialogue tracks, while the Q10 Equalizer and Renaissance Compressor also come in handy for the spoken word. The Q10 gives you the ability boost or attenuate ten frequency bands, while the Renaissance Compressor is a smooth dynamics-taming processor whose behavior is modeled on multiple, switchable types of compressors. You can use this module to reign in the dynamics of suddenly loud speakers, though its selectable harmonic distortion circuit (the Warm button) can also warm up shrill audio.
The IR-L can help you smooth ADR into the ambiance of a scene. The L1 is a limiter with look-ahead that can help you stay on spec, and the W43 Noise Reduction module is modeled on a classic Cedar box that helps shape noisy sound-sources.
With these tools and the help of a few tutorials, you should have everything you need to assume the basics of dialogue polishing within the context of your NLE.
Waves DeEsser – Sibilance Removal Plug-In (Native/SoundGrid, Download)
DeEsser from Waves is a plug-in used to reduce excessive sibilance (“ess” and “shh” sounds) from vocal tracks. Inspired by vintage gear for precision de-essing and high frequency limiting, the plug-in delivers smooth and natural output without complicated adjustments.
Waves IR-L Convolution Reverb – Stereo Reverb Plug-In (Native/SoundGrid, Download)
IR-L Convolution Reverb from Waves is a convolution based, stereo reverb plug-in that is capable of recreating the sound of real acoustic spaces. Over 100 impulse responses are provided, editable via the easy and efficient, streamlined interface. Unlike some convolution reverbs that deliver a static response, the IR-L has the ability to extended the RT60 decay time of a particular space without affecting the reverb’s envelope and frequency content.
Waves L1 Ultramaximizer – Loudness Maximizer Plug-In (Native/SoundGrid, Download)
L1 Ultramaximizer from Waves is a plug-in that provides dynamics control for any audio application, from multimedia to mastering. The software features look-ahead peak limiting, level maximization, and high resolution re-quantization, and is known for its transparency and punch.
Waves Q10 Equalizer – Paragraphic EQ Plug-In (TDM/Native/SoundGrid, Download)
The Q10 from Waves is a paragraphic EQ plug-in that features up to ten frequency bands within seven components. The software delivers precision equalization for mixing and mastering alike, with each band having the same extended frequency range, and the ability to narrow the bandwidth (Q) for more surgical tasks.
With presets that cover a wide range of applications and advanced noise shaping, the software provides the tools for both creating special effects and spectral modifications that range from subtle to extreme. The plug-in includes Native, SoundGrid and TDM licenses.
Waves Renaissance Compressor – Dynamics Plug-In (Native/SoundGrid, Download)
The Renaissance Compressor from Waves is a compressor plug-in that features two compression modes: vintage opto and modern electro. Featuring a streamlined interface, the plug-in utilizes technologies from both the company’s C1 Parametric Compander, along with the L1 Ultramaximizer.
Waves W43 Noise Reduction Plug-In (Native/SoundGrid, Download)
The W43 Noise Reduction Plug-In from Waves is inspired by and built on the legacy of the renowned CAT 43 processor. Ambient noise such as hiss, hum, traffic, wind and air conditioning noise can all wreak havoc on film/video production dialog tracks. With four, fixed frequency bands, the plug-in is easy-to-use for post production environments. It delivers high-quality noise reduction with minimal artifacts (like the original hardware), while providing the advantages of software, such as multiple simultaneous instances.
*When using TDM, Accel card required for 48 to 96 kHz, with mono only at 88.2 and 96 kHz
