Overloud Comp LA Gem Series Optical Compressor Plug-In (Download) Overview

The Gem Series Overloud Comp LA offers realistic emulations of the sound and characteristics of two legendary optical compressors, the 2A (tube) and the 3A (solid state), bundled in one plug-in. Flexible and musical, it gives you both the uniquely warm compression of the original 2A—prized for vocals—and the great midrange presence of the 3A engineers love for guitars, drums, or mix buses.

The Comp LA supports 32-/64-bit AAX, Audio Units, VST, and VST3 plug-in formats, and can also be used as a standalone. It is compatible with Mac and Windows computers. You may authorize up to three computers that are owned by you (no hardware key needed).

Two Models and One Plug-In

The 2A mode (tube-based) delivers a warm and harmonically rich tone.
The 3A mode (solid state) offers a faster attack time and a more transparent tone.

Opto-Attenuator and Dual-Stage Release

The plug-in faithfully emulates the photo-cell coupled with an opto-attenuator, which is found in the original hardware.
The photo-cell provides a natural dual-stage release, which results in more transparent compression compared to other types of compressors—70 ms for first half of the release and 500 to 5000 ms for the second half (depending on first-stage reduction).

Harmonic Control

The plug-in allows you to increase or reduce the amount of generated harmonics compared to that of the original hardware.

Mid-Side Processing and Parallel Compression

Separately compress the mono (mid) and stereo (side) elements of your track.
Dial in the amount of parallel compression without using external buses.
