Kilohearts Phase Plant Modular Synthesizer Plug-In Instrument Software (Download)
Phase Plant from Kilohearts is a modular-style plug-in software synthesizer that functions as host software for the company’s Snapin series of plug-ins. The flexible system offers sound generators in four varieties including Analog, Sample, Wavetable, and Noise which can then be filtered and processed with built-in modules and Snapin plug-ins. The free version of Kilohearts Toolbox with six Snapins is included, and many more are available for purchase separately.
Phase Plant is compatible with most DAW software operating on the AU, AAX, and VST2 platforms and opens up an enormous vista of sound sculpting possibilities. The synth’s flexible but intuitive routing system provides you with a variety of oscillator, sample player, filter, and effect modules in the generator pane, which you can then process in effect lanes using Snapin plug-ins. The modulation pane offers a vast array of modulation options, and almost all the parameters in Phase Plant and in the Snapins can be modulated. Macros can be created for external automation within your host DAW.
The software provides a large library of presets to get you started, all of which are fully functional. You must own (have a license for) the effect plug-in to alter the parameters for that effect. The system allows you to share presets with friends and collaborators, so you can collaborate easily. The Generators
- Phase Plant currently offers four signal generators; Analog, Wavetable, Sample, and Noise. More generators are being developed for future free updates. - For each generator group you can add an output module to send the sound to an effects lane, master, or sideband. You can also use a group purely as an audio rate modulation source for any other generator.

Multipass from Kilohearts is host software for the company’s Snapin series of plug-ins that makes it easy to create and manipulate complex chains of effects and allows you to do frequency-dependent processing on up to 5 separate frequency bands. Snapin plug-ins are available separately for purchase, and some are included with the Multipass host software.
Multipass is compatible with most DAW software operating on the AU, AAX, and VST2 platforms and has been engineered to provide low-latency performance with minimal phase shifting, for terrific-sounding results. Split the Sound
When adding effects to a sound, it’s not uncommon to want to apply these effects to just a certain part of the sound. For example, you might not want a complex chorus to affect your bass too much, or a hard distortion to totally fry your high end. Either way, multiband processing adds a dimension to effect chains that really opens up a new world of options in sound design. Multipass helps you with this, allowing you to split the input sound into up to 5 easily tweakable frequency bands and applying unlimited number of effects to each band. Pitch-shifted auto-pan with a filtered chorus-delay distortion—coming right up.
Serial and Parallel Processing with Multiple Effects
Band splitting comes with a bit of a price. It’s unavoidable (without adding latency) to mess a bit with the phase of the sound. Usually this is not a problem, but when chaining multiple multiband effects this can add up to a lot of phase distortion. In Multipass, the band splitting is only done once no matter how many effects you add, leaving the phase as minimally harmed as possible. It also sorts out dry/wet mixing of effect lanes properly without phasing where possible. Parallel multiband compression, here we come.
Vast Modulation Possibilities
While adding four filters, a frequency shifter, and a stereo-width modifier can be interesting in itself. Adding four filters with sweeping cutoffs retriggered by an audio threshold, a frequency shifter bound to the MIDI note, and stereo width scaled by the input RMS can be—well, probably strange. But it may be amazing, and trying it out is just a couple of clicks away. Try it.
Mute and Solo Effects
When you’re tweaking a specific frequency band, the other bands and effects involved can sometimes make it hard to properly hear what’s going on. Mute or solo effect lanes to quickly home in on what you’re doing. And if you automate it, it can even be an effect in itself.

Kilohearts kHs ONE Synthesizer Plug-In Instrument Software (Download)
The kHs One from Kilohearts is a software synthesizer designed to emulate the fat, warm sound of analog synths. The two main oscillators offer a choice of saw, square, or noise modes for a wide variety of tones, while a sub-oscillator with waveshaping is onboard to beef up the low-end. Two filters, two LFOs, three envelopes (amp, filter, and modulation), and four effect choices provide extensive sound-sculpting capabilities.

Kilohearts Gate Software (Download)
Kilohearts Gate is a downloadable plug-in for use in pro-audio mixing, one that it often used to remove problematic low-level signal that you don’t need. Too much snare in the kick drum mic? The gate is designed to fix this problem. This plug-in has all the controls designed to handle gating issues, and a few that foster creative use as well.

Attack
The attack time is the time it takes to for the gate to fully open when the input volume is over the threshold.
Hold
The hold time is the minimum time the gate will stay open.
Release
The release time is the time it takes to for the gate to fully close when the input volume is under the threshold.
Threshold
The threshold sets the signal level at which the gate will open.
Tolerance
Tolerance is also known as Hysteresis, and it helps you fine-tune the gate’s operation. The hysteresis range requiring the volume to drop a set amount of dB under the threshold before closing.
Range
The amount to attenuate the signal when the gate is closed.
Lookahead
When enabled, a 5 ms lookahead will be used, allowing transients through at the cost of some latency.
Flip
This is an interesting control for a gate: When flipped, the gate will act in reverse, attenuating the signal only when the gate is open. This means you’ll only hear the low-level information.
VU Meter
Displays the current input level, the selected threshold and tolerance, and the gate’s current state.
Side-Chain
When you select another sound source in this sidechain drop-down menu, the plug-in uses that source for determining the behavior of the plug-in instead. This is useful, for instance, for lowering a lead sound whenever the kick hits.
Kilohearts Haas Stereo-Width Software (Download)
Kilohearts Haas is a downloadable plug-in for use in pro-audio mixing, one provides a kind of stereo panning that makes use of the Haas effect. The Haas effect involves delaying either the left or right channel by a very small amount. This results in either a panning or widening effect quite different from conventional, level-based panning techniques. The GUI is simple to use: Choose what channel you’re manipulating, and dictate the delay time. That’s it.

- Cutoff knob: Selects the filter cutoff frequency.
- Resonance knob: The filter resonance setting. High values will make the filter resonate at the cutoff frequency.
- Topology: Selects between transistor ladder and diode ladder topology. The diode ladder has a slightly more acid roll-off after the cutoff frequency. The two topologies also behave differently when saturation is enabled.
- Settings Panel: Whenever you have your mouse cursor over a Snapin, there is a small arrow at the top right corner. It opens a settings panel where you handle presets.
